Engineering Research Conference 2023

The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IECEP) hosted the highly anticipated "Engineering Research Conference 2023" at the Golden Peak Hotel, Cebu City last October 20-21, 2023. The conference served as a platform for researchers and experts in the field of electronics to present their groundbreaking ideas and findings. The main highlight of the event is the presentation of seven selected papers that align with the conference's theme, "Electronics Research Incubation for Future Technologies."

One of the notable talks during the conference was delivered by Mr. Jeffrey Llanto, Executive Director of CVISNET Foundation Inc.. His presentation focused on "Resilience Communications for Disasters; Innovative ICT Solutions Piloted and Tested in Japan, Philippines, and Nepal." Mr. Llanto showcased the Locally Accessible Cloud System (LACS) as a crucial component of the implementation for the "Internet for Sustainable Livelihood Education and Tourism" (ISLET Connect Project).

LACS, a solution developed in Japan and compliant with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standards, aims to provide a resilient and locally accessible cloud system. Its primary objective is to enable communication and information exchange during disasters or in areas with limited connectivity. This innovative technology offers a lifeline in times of crisis, ensuring that communities can stay connected and informed when traditional communication infrastructure fails.

CVISNET, through its active participation in events like the Engineering Research Conference 2023, continues to fulfill its mission of bridging the digital gap. By organizing learning sessions and advocating for innovative solutions, CVISNET empowers various sectors of the community, with a particular focus on under-served populations.

The Engineering Research Conference 2023 serves as a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of researchers and organizations like CVISNET. By exploring cutting-edge technologies and sharing knowledge, these industry leaders pave the way for a future where electronics play a pivotal role in shaping sustainable development and resilient communities.
