ISLET Connect Launches in Cuaming Island
The ISLET Connect Project on the island of Cuaming has commenced! Cuaming, a small but
densely
populated island barangay of the Municipality of Inabanga, Bohol, is the final phase of
the Inabanga
project. A social preparation was conducted at the multi-purpose hall of Barangay
Cuaming, which
involved an overview of the project and engagement with residents and barangay
officials, ensuring that
the community’s needs and inputs were integral to the project’s development.
Subsequently, the
deployment and installation of infrastructures were done from May 27 to 29, 2025, laying
the groundwork
for enhanced connectivity.
The ISLET Connect project is an initiative by the CVISNET Foundation, in partnership
with the Department
of Science and Technology (DOST) Bohol, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Inabanga, and
Unconnected.
It was officially launched on August 15, 2024, with a ceremonial event held at the
Inabanga Municipal Hall.
The launch brought together key officials and personnel from LGU Inabanga, as well as
representatives
from various barangays, including Lawis, Cagawasan, Cambitoon, Baogo, and Cuaming, all
of whom
gathered to witness this innovative project.
ISLET Connect’s main objective is to establish a robust and reliable internet
connectivity system across the
targeted barangays in Inabanga, Bohol. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide
and empower local
communities by providing essential internet access, which is vital for education,
communication, and
economic opportunities in today's increasingly digital world.
